What to do in Berguedà

¿What to do in Berguedà?

Today’s entry, as its title indicates, is about what to do in Berguedà. Specifically we have listed ten. For those who have followed us for a while, many of them will ring you. This is because we have almost one entry for each one. Today we wanted to take all these points and bring them together in just one entry. You will find charming villages, breathtaking landscapes, natural water sources, activities for adventurers, games to do with the little ones in the house and all without leaving this unknown region of Barcelona: El Berguedà.

What to do in Berguedà: Visit of a weekend
We were in Berguedà last winter. The office of Turisme del Berguedà and the Diputació de Barcelona prepared us a tight weekend to be able to do the maximum possible activities. Having to enter the Oil Mine at night was not an obstacle (normally it can only be in hours of sunlight), but I do not want to move forward!

We went out of Barcelona on Friday at noon and after a while we arrived at the Berguedà. The first place to visit was Castellar de N’hug.

Castellar de N’hug
Castellar de l’Hug is one of the most emblematic villages in the Berguedà region. The day we were there, the town was so calm that it seemed to be abandoned. Maybe the cold one I was doing was the culprit, but we only saw cats on the street. Everyone would be in his warm house.

The sun was about to settle and the surrounding landscape changed with the orange light at this time of day. The silence and the views that we could enjoy were able to live in a few places.

Fonts del Llobregat
A few minutes by car or a few more down the stairs from Castellar de l’Hug, we find the Llobregat fountains. They are called thus, because they are the birth of what is the Llobregat river, which ends near the city of Barcelona.

Oil mill from Riutort
The sun had already gone, but this did not prevent us from taking some flashlights and going through the woods in the middle of the dark until the Oil Mine of Riutort. It is the only mine of this type in all of Spain and you can see real oil falling down the stone walls. It must be said that it is very humid, so you go warm. If you wear glasses, you should probably have to wash them out so they’ll get wet just by the door.

Dinner at the Grandfather’s Rise
After the afternoon visits we went to dinner at the Recó del Avi, the hometown of the beloved Avi del Barça. There we were able to enjoy typical dishes from the region, as well as having dinner at the table next to the best-known Catalan footballer.

Via Ferrada de Vallcebre
On Saturday morning we started early. We gathered for a strong breakfast, as we were waiting for a Via Ferrada, Via Ferrada de Vallcebre. It must be said that I was very scared – I am scared to the heights – and the images I had seen on the Vies Ferrades internet market helped me a little. A Via Ferrada is similar to climbing, at least from the point of view of an inexperienced, but instead of going through the wall, we have some irons on which to walk. Hence the name.

It is a highly recommended activity! For us it was one of the best we did throughout the weekend. What’s more, we’re already thinking about doing the next soon! Where It’s a secret! Shhh …

Excursion to Pedraforca
Pedraforca is one of the most famous mountains in the Catalan territory and is considered a natural place of national interest. There are itineraries to walk up to the top of more than 2500 meters, but you need to be physically prepared and have a good equipment to do it. We did not climb but we were able to enjoy a good meal at Hostal Pedraforca, with views of this famous mountain. We do not rule out making a trip someday to do this excursion, although we will have to train!
